Set up in 2001, the Dot NAME generic domain extension is the sole TLD supposed to be for personal sites only. These domains can consist of personal or fictional names, aliases and/or other designations people are famous by. At the beginning, only 3rd-level registrations were permitted, so if you planned to register john.doe.name, you had to do that under .doe.name. In 2004, however, the registration procedures were liberalized and 2nd-level registrations were also allowed. Already registered 3rd-level domains remained online.

You will have the chance to correct the WHOIS information, to park your domain, to set up Custom DNS records, etc. You can also transfer an active domain to our firm if you have its EPP transfer key from the current domain service provider and we will renew it when the transfer has been finalized. There are no specific requirements on who can purchase a dot NAME domain name, but in order to preserve the concept behind its establishment alive, the .NAME Registry organization may verify who the owner is and if there is no relation between the owner and the actual domain name, the registration might be challenged.
